Protea Real Estate does not employ people with professionalism. We have a property manager who is on-site 3 days a week. If you do not get in front of them in person and insist that the issues be handled immediately, your issues will likely go unresolved. Any situation where the HOA is responsible results in our having to submit several work tickets (which they close without resolution), leave several voicemails, and send several emails before they are willing to communicate with you about it.

As it stands, our unit has been without a properly working HVAC unit this entire year. Our tenant moved out of this unit early because they had concerns about the coming warmer months. I have the work tickets and emails to back up these claims. We also have other residents parking in our assigned parking spot. Protea Real Estate claimed via email that all we had to do was provide the car information, the plate number, and our parking space number to have them towed.

We did this several times over several days and yet the car is still parked in our space. When I called this morning to discuss this with the Protea Management, I was told on the phone that they do not have time to respond to our concerns.

To the lady that reviewed below about Hickory creek Ranch, first off Protea managed them while the property was still being built. As of 5 months ago the property was sold and a different management company took over. If it's gone downhill it's not because of the staff or management of Protea it's the new management company. Get your facts correct.

I lived in the property based in Denton, TX called Hickory Creek Ranch Apartments. Not only has the apartment gone incredibly downhill since this property management company acquired it, their staff is rude, unprofessional, and overall the property has become shambles. I will not recommend this management firm or any apartment they manage in Denton or DFW going further.

I worked for the company for almost a year and I could not complete a full year just due to the negligence of the management company and how rude the management company is to their employees as well as residents. They do not care about anything else but themselves and they make life very hard for their employees, they do not care about the residences nor do they properly take care of their properties. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to work for this company or have them live in any of their properties.

Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, Value They are not BBB accredited and there's a reason why. They are the worst management company. They have many filed complaints. Their properties are all second chance housing. So this might be why.

Protea Management has been wonderful whenever I have needed information or services. I am a current owner that has 2 townhomes on the property and I have to say they do a great job keeping the property clean and well maintained. When ever I sold one of my other townhomes they were quick to get me the resell certificate and it made the sale go smooth. I would highly recommend them if you are looking for a good management company.

I don't usually write reviews but I felt like Protea Real Estate deserved it after everything they've done for me and my family. They went above and beyond. They would answer calls after hours and when I got transferred out of state they were very helpful during the process of me selling my townhome. I was always treated with respect and they always kept the property well maintained.

I have expressed I am not interested in leasing at Lakeview Estates nor Lakeview Apartments to Tyler Doyle and Velma Noland. After I made it clear, they still took a deposit from my account unethically and unauthorized according to the agreement established. The verbiage on the application indicated specifically that all application fees are non-refundable.

There is nowhere stating that you will take a deposit for a lease I'm not obtaining, regardless. NO paperwork was signed to dictate or indicate a NON-REFUNDABLE deposit. I have repeatedly asked for the money to be refunded because I've declined to move forward in the process to lease beforehand. Why would a deposit be taken afterwards, when I clearly said I wasn't leasing and requested a refund to be issued for the unauthorized deposit.

The manager, Velma Noland has insisted on not doing so, even though she knew I was not interested before the deposit was taken. I have asked her to refund the money based, no paperwork saying I'm obligated to pay a deposit on an apartment based on approval. She has now insisted on not providing customer service for getting appropriate approval. In the middle of a pandemic and recessionary time, I hope someone will reach out with a resolution. The number provided for your corporate office has not sufficed for me to make contact.

By far the most horrible company I have ever worked for. They took over our property in Houston and I wish I would have stayed with Tipton Group. From the time they walked in the door up until now nothing came out of their mouths but lies. Do not work for this company or live anywhere they own. Yours Truly, Tenecia Rideau

It is impossible to get in touch with your company, as no one answers the phone, since I have left numerous messages, and, you refuse to return my call, I will air out my grievances with you, here, I would not have left a review, but, since you refuse to return my calls, I'll say it here, Carmen completely refuses to speak to me, my neighbor says the exact same thing, that Carmen won't even answer her, either, just ignores her, it's been six weeks of her bathtub broken, when she asks her about it, she shuffles papers, and doesn't answer her, she does the exact same thing with me, when I ask her about the dangerous black mold on my patio, everyone here is having their porches, replaced, they nailed particle board over the mold, they did not treat the mold, this is dangerous, beyond rude of Cameron, to shuffle papers, and, not even answer me, why does your company refuse to speak to us, your the property manager, shouldn't you answer people's questions, instead of rudely pretending not to hear you, I want to know why everyone here gets a brand new patio, and, I got particleboard, nailed over dangerous black mold, without it being treated, why does everyone, here get all new wood except me, the only one whose wood is molded, shouldn't you all answer people's questions, why does this woman just refuse to answer.

That's very rude, and, inexusable, way more than rude, she's happy to put me in danger, I realize Brent's a tyrannical bully, that bad-mouthed Jacelyn and Wee, we were happy with Jacelyn, but, apparently Brent is allowed to use his position, as a board member to bully every female, isn't it your job to see to it that, I just give up, I liked Jacelyn, this Carmen is beyond rude, why does nobody answer the phone at your company, or ever return phone calls. Carmen is a poor representation, and, beyond rude, she just refuses to even speak. Property managers don't completely ignore residents, but, Carmen does.

As an out of state property owner, I can't say enough good things about working with Protea and their staff. They helped me come up with a plan to stabilize the property, keep expenses in check, and attract great tenants paying higher rent. They run a tight ship and it paid off in the end. I would highly recommend them and look forward to working with them again on my next property.
