I would never rent an apartment with Gatsby Enterprises again. I have had consistent issues with heating, as in I have broken radiators without heat in the dead of nyc winter, and there have been multiple instances where the hot water has been shut off. The super of this building is MIA and unprofessional. I can't wait to move out of this apartment.

I've been a tenant on w11th st for over a year. There have been a few issues pop up that are normal for NYC and a few issues that were circumstantial and out of the ordinary. I will say that for any issue with the building I receive prompt and thorough responses by ways of the building portal, by email and by phone. Thank you Issac! I also decided to renew my lease. Yamilda in legal is fantastic.
She spent time looking into the inventory for other buildings in case I wanted to move to another building under management. She also inquired and was able to make some small tweaks to my lease based on the current market. Thank you! Everyone I have come in contact with is friendly, helpful and it has made all the difference.

Be warned. There is always some sort of issue with this company - Never a good moment. Apartment was trash. Staff were lazy and never were able to do their job properly. Super was never around to fix anything - He must be fixing all of the freaking buildings in NYC because that man ALWAYS "busy" yet I saw him talking away on the phone near the garbage disposal. My neighbors upstairs had a burst pipe that leaked water into my apartment - Apartment was flooded and no one came. I'm surprised this place is still in business.

So far, despite all the negative reviews my experience with Gatsby has been wholly positive. I had issues with a neighbor that they helped me resolve quickly and amicably. They also fixed a plumbing issue within 24 hrs of my request, shut off an intermittently beeping carbon monoxide detector in a nearby (empty) apartment at my request and helped me figure out how to turn on the oven in the apartment. I've dealt with Isaac (property manager) and Kola (superintendent) and both have been great so far. Have been in residence for a little over a month. Will update if any issues come up.

DO NOT RENT FROM THESE CROOKS. I've had to buy $400 worth of new groceries over the course of several weeks because they will not replace our broken fridge and just keep coming to tinker with it. They also never took our apartment off the realtor listing for 2.5 months so I had strangers coming into my apartment unannounced every couple of weeks (realtors and clients).
They also sold me on this building by saying that it has an in building washer and drier but it has been broken since day 1 and they do not even reply when I request that it's fixed. Also lots of roaches.

Disgusting + terrible management company. Do not rent from them at all. The upstairs neighbor's pipes burst so a lot water was leaking from my bathroom ceiling + walls - I called the super + he had the audacity to tell me to wait. It was like 5:30 pm, and he told me he'll come tomorrow. The water was literally flooding the damn bathroom - I used all the pots and anything I had to catch the water. That's not even the worst of the problem. The management team is just absolute garbage people. Don't waste your money on their horribly managed apartments.

If I could give negative stars, I would. We have been living in this apartment for a little under 4 months and already have issues. We've been dealing with a serious mice infestation- mainly in our kitchen area. Gatsby sent out exterminators twice to fix the issue. This only made it worse. The issue is so bad that no amount of traps have helped in the kitchen.
We ended up having to take our dog to the emergency room and calling poison control because she ate one of the mice in our apartment. Gatsby has shown very little concern with this issue. Our apartment is inhabitable and we are moving out in a few days. Save yourself the stress, time and money and do not live at 304 East 62nd Street. The super is also very unhelpful and will not provide tools or assistance for needs around the apartment. Do not give your money away to this company. They are a scam!

I don't write review much but feel obligated to let whoever look into this company knows my experience. Just 2 examples out of my 3 years tenant (of 284 5th Ave) experience with them. 1) I raised numerous times about the heater not working in my unit. They kept saying that it was centralized and never get someone to look into it. Finally on a Fri before a snow storm on Sat, they sent someone to check it and that technician confirmed the heater in my unit was not working but he said it was too late to fix it before the snow storm as he needed to get a component somewhere.
I then called Gatsby and suggested that I picked up a small heater around 40 - 50 dollars at Best Buy with this urgency. He said I would not be reimbursed for that because all equipment have to be gone through them, yet they provided no other solution to my situation. In sum, they just let me went through the snow storm without heat and they di not even reimburse me to get a 40 dollars heater even though the delay of fixing the heat was all because of their procrastination. 2) Just before I moved out, I was locked out and the lock smith confirmed that it was because the lock was too old thus it locked automatically while it shouldn't.
I have evidence of this from the lock smith and asked Gatsby to reimburse me the cost of unlocking the door and the lock. They refused. The said I changed the lock before but it had been the same lock since I moved into the building 3 years ago and likely that lock had been used by the former tenant for a while too so a lock with a lifespan of 4 year plus goes wrong is just normal. However, Gatsby just take advantage of me knowing that I could not do anything about it as my security deposit was on their hand.

I feel like I don't even have to write a review with all of these photos, but this is the worst property manager I have ever dealt with. Willingly allowed my roommate and me to move into a roach infested apartment and did nothing to resolve the issue. Would also show up to our apartment unannounced and just open the door with the key they had. Also made us pay a lease break fee to move out of an INFESTED apartment.

The worst of the worst. Absolute dirt bags. I lived in one of their nicer apartments for 2+ years ($120K++) and we never received maintenance a single time. The apartment was dirty when we moved in; we were nickle and dimed for wanting locks on the door (which the maintenance person purposely removed so that he could sell back to us); we were resold AC units (which the building manager took from the last tenant and resold to us).
I lost my building key and was told it would cost $100. Absolute insanity. Over a 2 year period of time, we received $600 of garbage fines and ZERO help in any way for any problems of the apartment (including spiders, cockroaches, and mice). These people are the EPITOME of New York Real Estate trash managers. Would recommend literally any other real estate manager over these.

One word, scumbags. I lived in an apartment for 2 years (100k+ in rent) and never had them fix anything, I then found new tenants (my friends) to move in the day after my lease was up without Gatsby needing to show the apartment. How did Gatsby thank me? By flat out refusing to repaint the apartment or even have the apartment professionally cleaned (my lease stated that it needed to be "swept clean"), which I paid out of pocket for because I'm a decent human (they refused to admit that in writing because they are scum).
When you hear about slimey New York real estate managers, this is them. That being said, they gave me a cup of water when we went in to sign my lease so I guess that was nice of them.

Your experience with Gatsby largely depends on the person who you are talking with in their office. Some of the employees are extremely kind and helpful and some aren't so nice or helpful. For the most part, dealing with a management company in NYC isn't going to be the most pleasant experience but as far as this one goes it tends to work out.
You just need to make sure you get a helpful person on the phone. Found out over a year after it happened that there were bedbugs in my building, a few units above us. Of course I would have preferred to know when it was happening, but I guess that also means it was handled swiftly and without inconvenience.

I lived in a Gatsby building for 5 years. what a fucking nightmare. first off- 86 east 4th st has bed bugs here's some of my other experiences: the front door to our building didn't latch shut for all of winter- I told the super & he said "it's because it's cold out." somehow other landlords seem to have scored front doors that latch in winter. not a Gatsby building though also our mailboxes broke open so none of them closed.
It happened during tax season and I was mailed multiple tax forms with my social security number on them that someone could have easily picked up since the mailboxes were wide open and the front door wasn't latching. I told management multiple times and they could not have cared less. Isaac Shaban is an awful awful property manager. cannot stress this enough. he rarely answers emails and when he does, he's extremely condescending stay. the hell. away.

107 St Marks Place tenant. Never rent from this company. FYI I have been living in NYC for 4 years and never have had as bad of an experience as this one. It not worth the pain and suffering. The supervisor Alex is a complete scumbag. He never answers calls to fixed any of the problems in the building. Instead, he would harass the in-building supervisor, Sharif. Sharif is a very great guy. Gatsby/Alex will also take your security deposit for BS reasons like holes in the wall for pictures. Make sure to lawyer up early. There were bugs everywhere and walls are thinner than paper.

Oh boy where do I begin. If I could give 0, I would. Gatsby is an absolute joke. No one seems to ever be working when you call them. They always seem have stepped out or are on vacation. Must be nice to not have to work and get away with charging ridiculous amounts of money for extremely average apartments. This is a classic example of a company who chooses to do nothing but charge high rent because they can.
They have no human dignity. My stove broke 3 times in the time I have lived there. It took 1 month to get a working stove. Everytime I would call Gatsby and get a hold of someone, they would say its the super's responsibility. So then I would take it to him and he would say its Gatsby's. Nothing ever gets fixed and for some reason all they do is paint the hallways and doors every 2 weeks. Do not rent from Gatsby. Plain and simple.

It is both comforting and highly discouraging to know that my terrible experience with this company is not unique. The positive reviews here are clearly fake. My roommate and I were given one key to our building upon moving in. We went down to the leasing office 5 TIMES to get another key. Each time, we were given one that did not work and clearly did not look like the key to the building.
The annoying part is that this issue was not resolved for 3 MONTHS. Nobody in that office communicates with each other. The receptionists are incredibly rude, and will tell you they are working on the problem when they are not, or that the property manager (Alex) "just stepped out". We had mice for 3 weeks. I caught at least 10 mice before they came to help fix the problem.
The receptionist kept telling me that Alex was "gone" and would call me back-- never received a call back. I ended up having to send a certified letter requiring Alex to sign for it and threatening legal action, and only then received a call back. We just got cockroaches. For days I was told by the realty office that they would call me back to schedule an exterminator appointment.
Never got a call back. After reading all these reviews about no heat in the winter, I went down to the office to meet with Alex in person and find out why they have been unable to help me, and if this will continue. He is very clearly a businessman who does not actually care about the people he is providing a service to and does what he can to not do any work.
He tried to tell me that none of the problems were his responsibility, which I did not accept as an answer since he is building manager. It was clear that he would not try to fix any problems unless you made him do so and held him accountable. At one point, his coworker stepped in to tell him a woman was on the line wanting reimbursement and saying he signed for a certified letter. Alex told that coworker to lie and tell her he never got the letter. HE JUST AVOIDS YOU AND HOPES YOU GIVE UP.
Mind you, each problem took AT LEAST a month to "remedy"-- and even then, more problems would arise. MY ADVICE: -Do not rent from this company! They are awful communicators and will waste your time and money. Living conditions are unhygienic and they will not fix this. -If you are living here and need something done: go to the office and demand it is fixed in person. Otherwise, property manager will ignore your emails and calls.
Keep documentation of EVERYTHING that goes wrong and every time you try to contact your landlord/property manager. Make sure you are notifying them of issues via certified mail, so that you have official receipts. THIS COMPANY IS A HEADACHE.

Gatsby is the quintessential slum New York City slum lord. They will over charge you in anyway they can, they will raise your rent at any opportunity, and they will try to get you into a summer lease so they can jack your rent price. They literally the worst! You'll notice the positive reviews are all single review people because THEY ARE FAKE!
Avoid this management company at all costs. Also - Mosche the broker that lists most of their properties is in the bag with them - they give him kick backs, he rips people off and charges a fee on no fee apartments. STEER CLEAR OF GATSBY

Bedbug infestation at 107 St Marks Place! DO NOT MOVE! Gatsby is the worst rental company I've had to deal with in ten years of living in NY. Their buildings have shoddy workmanship and they do the bare minimum when it comes to communication and repairs. Our apartment was not in the best shape when we moved in but it was workable- most of it being cosmetic (or so I thought).
The apartment has quickly deteriorated with the cherry on top being a bedbug infestation which we were informed about 2 months after people in the building had already been complaining about. After people started moving out our apartment too had become infested. Instead of spraying the whole building they've just done individual apartments- so of course after another round of renters leaving we are now again infested.
To those thinking about renting at 107 St Marks Place please save yourself the trouble. You do not want to go through this. Gatsby agents are nothing but crooks and liars. Bedbugs at 107 St Marks Place!

This management company has a thug for a super. HE TRAPPED ME IN THE ELEVATOR and screamed at me for having dogs in the building. I had to run away from him. I should have called the police. The management company sided with me and he continued to assault me verbally. Do not rent in this building. It is filthy and dangerous. They accept dogs but harrass tenants about them.
The address is 190 6th Ave. Save your money and time. There are also a bunch of old rent stabilized tenants that complain about every move in the building. Old people with nothing to do but complain. The guy in the photo is the super. He is dangerous

My experience with Gatsby Enterprises was great. We rented a beautiful apartment. The super was fantastic. Building services exceeded our expectations and Gatsby Enterprises was a pleasure to work with. Due to job relocation we were not able to renew our lease. I look forward to returning to NYC and renting from them again.

I lived in the Sherrie Apts in Midtown West. The apartment was OK and I liked the staff, but the management company provided one of my worst overall customer service experiences. In a nutshell, I was repeatedly referred to one leasing agent who never did his job. He agreed multiple times to send me lease renewal paperwork (and later a referral letter) and simply didn't.
He did, however, give my contact information to brokers for the wrong apartment, send me wrong paperwork and leave me on hold. He could have saved us both a lot of time by taking 15 minutes to do his job right.

I wish I could ZERO stars. Completely horrible management. I am honestly perplexed how thieves like Gatsby can even stay in business. Housing in NYC in general is in the toilet but it's companies like Gatsby who make living in NYC unnecessarily stressful, dreadful, uncomfortable and dangerous. We have had mice since we moved in last August, 2014.
We never got the issue fixed! There is a hold behind our stove where they come from and instead of simply filling the hole like a GOOD super and GOOD company should do, they just have some pest control guy throw some poison bags in it. It obviously hasn't helped as we STILL are dealing with rodents on a daily basis. Droppings all over our kitchen day and night.
If you are apartment hunting, avoid this management at all costs, and especially avoid apartments at 690 Fort Washington Ave. The super here is the worst super imaginable, and if you speak to anyone living in this building, you'll find that I'm not the only one who feels this way. He refuses to fix anything, we have no carbon or smoke detectors, and when we moved in, everything was dusty, dirty and the paint job was done by a 2 year old they painted over the doorknobs, outlets, counters, etc.

My experience with Gatsby Realty has been less than satisfactory, to put it mildly. I am a tenant of one of their buildings, 234 East 52nd street NY NY. The building loses heat and hot water on a regular basis, once or twice every few weeks. When the heat and hot water goes off, it is typically on a very cold wintry day, when tenants rely on heat the most.
It takes anywhere from 24 to 48 hours for heat and hot water to come back on. It happens with such regularity that it is very obvious that the building's infrastructure is very old and in need of a major overhaul. It is clear that the landlord has no intention of ever upgrading the facilities.
Additionally, this building is occupied partly by full time tenants, but also partly by foreign travelers, ie vacationers who are using the building as something akin to a bed and breakfast.
Since the travelers only stay a short period of time, some of them can be loud, disrespectful, and can leave trash all over the place. I woke up one monday morning to go to work one day and I saw a grown man passed out in the middle of the hallway -- a traveler who was sleeping it off. Keep in mind that this is not low income housing. I pay the market rate for a New York City one bedroom apartment in midtown Manhattan.
There are no bargains here. If you are thinking about dealing with Gatsby Realty, specifically if you are considering living in 234 E 52nd street, you should strongly reconsider.
