Sunrise owns and operates our building in Ocean Beach. Our on-site manager Kristine is awesome, she gets things done. Sunrise the company who we pay a ridiculous amount of rent to have plastic on our windows for 4 months now. not so much. We moved here in April, they started construction on the balconies in April. they are still working on these balconies at a snails pace.
No reduced rent for not having a window or balcony (that is included in our rent), we even lost our parking spot at one point. We also had plastic up inside our 350 sq foot apartment for a month too, which took out 60 sq feet. On top of all that we also haven't had our balcony for storage either. When you have a complaint they just forward it to the on-site manager, she can only do so much.
The worst part about it, the original manager of the building had us sign a lease THEN told us a week before we moved in there would be some construction for a month or two, 8 months later still waiting on this project to end. Great location, good on-site manager who cares, good neighbors, hallways are gross though. Here is our lovely view for the past few months. Edit after response: The parking spot upgrade was due to Kristine helping us out after our neighbors smashed our car that didn't have insurance and didn't have their car registered to the building.
Also after we were told to move our car for construction for a second time since moving in. Then we were told to park in the nearest LAZ lot and that sunrise/construction crew paid for us to park there. They didn't and we ended up with two parking tickets two days in a row! We had issues with parking since day one, it took almost 8 months for it to be corrected.
We do appreciate what our manager did for us, let's not act like it was something that wasn't warranted after the nonsense we had to go through. After all a parking spot is in our lease and part of what we pay for. Same with the balcony that we haven't been able to use in months. We are now on our third manager in a year. Had rodent issues and now no longer can put items on our balcony.
We finally got our balcony to use for storage and now we can't customize our balcony. This is our home why can't we make it our home? What exactly are we paying for here? Why did rent go from $1650 to $2650 in a year for a studio that has 350 square feet?

I haven't been able to get ahold of this property for months now. I've inquired about multiple locations with no response. Recently I decided to apply for an apartment hoping that would warrant a response. I've heard nothing back and my credit nor my husband's was never even ran. At this point I'm entitled to a refund for my application fees (for my husband and myself) since it was never ran or reviewed.
I'd appreciate something being done about this as soon as possible. Thanks. Update: as soon as I get in touch with someone regarding this refund they run my credit for a unit I no longer I am interested in due to lack of communication and having to find housing elsewhere. I'm so infuriated with this company.

One star only because they had a place in Poway near my work. My time there was terrible and stressful. Our property manager would ignore emails and calls and wouldn't give a 24 hour notice for entering the unit. On top of that when work was being done in my place she wouldn't supervise the unit. Good thing I had cameras but whoever they hired would leave a mess.
Not only that but when work was scheduled to get done which I had to board my dog so they could enter they didn't even show up! Tried to follow up but the manager at the time didn't care. Lastly when I moved out I had to continue following up on my security deposit check several times. They didn't send it in 21 days which is the law.
On day 28 I am still battling to get the money I am owed but they keep making excuses on why it's late. Bottom line is they are breaking the law and taking advantage of renters who already have it hard enough renting in this economy. Don't waste your time and money renting through them. They hire terrible property managers and don't take accountability for their actions.

Sunrise Management is terrible, and I would NEVER recommend anyone to house from them. A few weeks ago a tenant pulled a gun on another tenant during a violent altercation where police became involved and Sunrise Management has not responded to emails or voicemails regarding the incident. It's been several weeks now and no one at the management company will contact me about the concerns that not only I have, but several neighbors in the building as well. It has been impossible to get them to communicate or even respond back. Sunrise Management is terrible, and I would NEVER recommend anyone to house from them.

Thank you Sunrise Management. For the year and a half that I have resided in my apartment, i have found wonderful staff, fast repairs, and a clean - family oriented apartment/ complex. I wish to give a shout out to an awesome manager, Kayli Jannsen. The lady is a great business manager. She responds to phone calls, listens, and will return with an answer. Thank you to all.

Despite their overwhelming negative reviews, I was planning to move to SD and wanted to see one of their properties so I took a chance. No one responded to the two emails I sent, so I emailed the "feedback@" address that gets posted to negative reviews here on Google. She actually got back to me and said she would have someone contact me. The on-site building manager eventually responded to me and I told her my timeline and that I was interested in seeing one of their buildings because I think it might be what I'm looking for.
I coordinated a tour with the building manager during the trip I took to SD on my recon mission. She was nice during the tour and followed up to a few of the questions I had. I told her I was interested in the building, and to let me know as soon as they got notice that there would be a vacancy and I would make it happen, even if I had to pay double rent for a few months.
I told her I have great credit and a flawless rental history, so there would be no problems if I decided to apply for a unit in the building. Weeks went by so I contacted the building manager just for a status update on vacancies, and if there were no upcoming notices what she thought the possibility of an apartment coming up in the next few months was, just so I could update my plans since I was ready to move.
No response. I tried contacting her again. No response. I sent an email to the four other email addresses at Sunrise associated with the building (whose name they keep changing for some reason), which included the feedback email address, and no response from any of them. I tried contacting the building manager one last time via text but she did not respond.
I understand that vacancies are tight in SD right now, but I contacted three other buildings who all got back to me immediately with forecasted vacancies. Sunrise didn't even have the decency to let me know they weren't predicting any upcoming vacancies in the building, which is all I needed to know so I could move on with my plans. Moving is stressful and chaotic, and Sunrise doesn't care about tenants or prospective tenants, so I had to scramble to make a new plan. Fortunately I found a great apartment in another building with a property management company that doesn't get one-star reviews.

His is what we dealt with during our stay at their San Diego, El Cajon Apartments. We were forced to live amongst, Roaches after seeking help! We have texts from the second day of the lease which mentions the roaches & nothing was done! Call logs & emails also show us begging for help. We lost everything! Breach of contract due to uninhabitable & unsafe living conditions due to negligence of this company!

I moved into my new apartment about a month or two ago. I am absolutely loving my new place and I owe a huge thanks to James Fakeri. He is an incredible property manager and made sure my transition was smooth and easy. He was been very attentive and helpful. If you're looking for a new place to live I would definitely recommend checking out this company's properties. 10/10!

We contacted Sunrise Management a couple of weeks ago regarding a toilet in our apartment that was not working efficiently (old, slow to flush, etc.). We were immediately contacted by Ian - a SM maintenance expert for our apt bldg - who came by to inspect the toilet. He agreed that it needed to be checked out. Within 48 hours, Ian had coordinated with a plumbing company and the old toilet had been replaced with a new one.
We were thrilled with the fast turnaround of our request! SM staff has consistently provided efficient and effective support to us for the 7 years we have lived at this apartment building. Ian is consistently responsive to our needs and we very much appreciate his high standards of professionalism and follow-through. We don't hesitate to recommend SM as a company attentive and responsive to the needs of their residents.

Sunrise Management recently took over: They combine Rent and utilities onto one invoice. Confusion has ensued because alot of tenants are not getting the utilities bill in our invoice on a month to month basis. A lot of us got our utilities in August but not September; got it November but not October; got it in December but not January( a very unusual accounting method).
I went to pay rent and Brenda at the front desk confessed she liked all the new tenants except one and this person would only call(Brenda, maybe that Tenant has a good reason). So Brenda is openly disrespectful of the Tenants; I appreciate the admission from this management team! I'm actually surprised that person got thru; for instance, when I chose the wrong option and spoke with a Leasing Agent, and learned they won't transfer you.
So I called again and chose the "current resident" option. They never answered, and learned that they tend not to. So if you're a prospective customer you'll get thru but if you're a current resident you get to leave a message. This company owns a lot of properties so their customer service is surprisingly a cumbersome process, with ineptitude for the ride.

These people don't care about their tenants. I lived in one of the properties they managed. For 20 years I paid my rent, 3 years ago ( it took me too long to post this ) there was a big storm the house flooded and Sunrise asked me to move my stuff to a storage as they had to do major repairs. Well that was a lie, the got me to move my stuff, they knew the right thing to do was to place me somewhere else but chose to instead evict me, I ended up homeless, lost ally belongings. I hope one day justice is served.

I'm a current tenant in one of Sunrise's San Diego buildings and have had a wonderful experience so far. Of the property management companies in San Diego that I've dealt with, Sunrise is by far the best. They're very good at communicating about repairs or visits to the complex. We have regularly schedule maintenance folks who clean the entry and hallways.
They're more than fair about compensating for inconveniences like shut off water. I admit it can be a little difficult to get ahold of someone when you have questions or issues, but since learning that the tenant maintenance request form can be used for any inquiry, it's really easy to get any kind of help. It might be more helpful if that was clarified to tenants on move in (just a suggestion). I've interacted with Brenda and Davin and both of them were wonderful. The maintenance crew has also been very responsive, friendly, and helpful.

This company took over our property as of November 3rd 2021 and failed to respond to an emergency maintenance request I placed. I called 8 separate times and they're call center was no help. Our fridge broke and because they didn't send someone for 3 days all of our food went bad and now I've called 5 times and sent an email and have heard nothing in response. They do not care about they're tenants and are an awful and unresponsive company.

I've lived at my apartment for over 6 years. Last November, Sunrise Management purchased the property and it has been a year of frustrations, lack of communication, maintenance without notice and all kinds of other disturbances. I work from home and the amount of work being done on the property is causing a disruptive amount of noise. The company clearly does not care for their tenants.
I have emailed multiple times, I have called multiple times, I have left multiple voicemails inquiring about the work of the apartment with which I share a wall. no response. I really expected way more professionalism from them but clearly, they just don't give a crap about the current tenants, their jobs, or their livelihoods. I wish I got the kind of attention I read about in some of these reviews but no such luck for me.

I am a current tenant. Sunrise Management just took over our apartment complex last month. In just ONE month, let me tell you what I've experienced. Sunrise Management documents that they give you contain errors. The shocking factor is that they're unaware of them. Pointed out said errors to a Sunrise representative and the problem still has not been corrected.
They've taken over the apartment complex a month ago and still have not received all tenant leasing documents from the previous company that oversaw this apartment complex. Unable to reach any customer representative to discuss concerns. So let's say, for example, you receive a notice from Sunrise that is clearly a mistake on THEIR end, you will not be able to get it resolved over the phone. Sunrise does NOT call you back, despite the fact that you left correct contact information on their answering machine.
We're talking about voicemails that were left a month ago-they do not follow up with you. The only way you reach someone is if you go their office in person. Do NOT leave their office until your situation is resolved, because like I said, they do not follow up with you. In an attempt to reconcile a situation, I was given a false number to call if my situation has not been resolved. Obviously, that does not solve anything. Sunrise is extremely unprofessional. We are disappointed tenants. Beware future tenants that may sign with them. This is yet another company that you have to babysit.

Poor response. The team at Village Apartments Guadalupe Nevarez-Vaca and her assistant are unresponsive to emails and phone calls. They have a "I run these apartments" mentality and do not cater to the residents needs. I've tried on multiple occasions to file work orders and complaints with ZERO follow through. Not even a simple "I am in receipt of your message."

A truly terrible management company. Our complex was bought out about them approx a year ago, and since then it's been hell. Constant construction work, unannounced repairs, no proper notice, no communication. We don't even have a current lease with this new company, or any info on what will happen once they finish remodeling the vacant units.
They have no respect for tenants that still live here, and don't respond to any emails or phone calls. I would highly recommend you search elsewhere for a place to live, do not rent with them!

Absolute joke of "property management" these people dont care at all about your living circumstances, as we had mold, broken outlets, broken toilets, broken dishwasher and everything was a band-aid fix if even that. The mold got so bad I had to keep following up with them and they didnt even respond until close to moving out. They then charged us for "cleaning" and "maintenance" when all the apartments issues were their fault.
Trust me, I really dont even write reviews unless the business is horrendously bad. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR SERVICE. Just a bunch of degenerates run this business. They even responded saying I got my security refund back. What they ACTUALLY did is charge me more for things like moving out furniture that wasnt even OURs. They saw furniture in the garage and decided "oh hey lets charge them for this too" They will respond to your review but not your phone call when its time to answer questions. Please do your due diligence and avoid these scam artists.

Echoing all the negative reviews of this property management group. Horrible conditions at their Parkview Terrace location in City Heights, San Diego - by far the worst managed and maintained complex I've ever lived in and I've been renting for 14+ years in several different cities and states. Parkview Terrace's apartments are extremely out-of-date, dirty with trash everywhere around the property, sketchy and loud tenants, and a lot of temporary fixes around the property and in the apartments to cover bigger issues, like water leakage, mold, old/barely working AC units, and broken window frames and screens. Washers/dryers were also constantly not working.
Management was never available or on-site enough to help in a timely manner. It's hard to even get connected with someone in person or on the phone for anything especially an emergency. Like say if the fire alarm in your building has been going off for the entire weekend and the staff has no idea what to do or whom to call. Or if the washing machine started smoking when you were using it and management couldn't figure out who to call or if they needed to call the fire dept. Really scary, avoidable stuff.

The response I received was typical deflection on their part. They only responded to my requests to have the roaches eliminated after MULTIPLE calls and threats. They only responded to the hot water leak when it financially impacted THEM. The never addressed the plumbing and they still never fixed my deposit issue. They stole from me pure and simple.
I paid my rent in full and on time every single month. I left the apartment better than when I moved in and they still took half of my money. I should have expected a disingenuous response. They no longer need my rent, why would they care about the damage they caused? The answer is clearly spelled out in their response; they don't. Stay away from this company, you will absolutely regret it. Absolutely.

Sunrise management just started to manage the apartments where I live. They charged me the rent twice in one day. Leaving my account in NEGATIVE BALANCE. I reached out to them directly and for 10 days I had no response. My manager gave me her bosses phone and name. I called him about 17 times. He never called me back or answered. Then he tells the manager to just give me a check but he has yet to approve it for her so here I am now 20 days after this all started and Hector the Regional Manager hasn't contacted me at all. This the worst experience of my life when it comes to customer service. DO NOT RENT FROM SUNRISE MANAGEMENT. THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THE PEOPLE AT ALL. ESPECIALLY HECTOR!

Sunrise Property Management has been the worst property managers that I have had to deal with. I was living in the Corridor neighborhood in San Diego for 1 year before they started managing the property. When it came time to renew the least the person overseeing the apartment complex tricked me into signing the lease by "lowering" my current rent if I signed a new lease for 9 months.
What she left out was the fact that she was comparing my previous rent that included pet rent with a new rental price that did not. Needless to say I was not pleased when I discovered this when paying next months rent. When I addressed how predatory this behavior was she never had the common decency to respond. Very poor customer service and never improved from that point on.
Furthermore they stopped paying for all the utilities and required renters insurance. This ended up costing me hundreds of dollars more each month. I have NEVER rented from an apartment that covers zero utilities. The apartment itself is beautiful but was cheaply and poorly built. Things broke so easily. The front gate constantly broke and we went several months with it being broken.
Several of my neighbors have left the complex around the same time I did and I imagine it was due to facing similar issues. We had issues with homeless people sleeping in the laundry room and non-residents coming onto the property uninvited. The overall quality of the property deteriorated after they took over. Due to stray cats there was feces all over the complex and it became normal to see trash all over the walkway.
They didn't start paying attention to this complex UNTIL people started moving out. It was being completely neglected. The only positive thing I can say is that the maintenance guy was great. He was normally quick to respond to inquiries and was kind and polite. Tomorrow will be 30 days since I have moved out and I have still not receive an itemized list of what was taken out from my deposit and what will be returned to me.
The notice to vacate paperwork they gave me stated I would receive it within 21 days. I attempted to contact the property manager and of course the email address I had was "expired." I have sent an email to feedback@sunrisemgmt.com this evening because that is the only way I know how to reach anyone by email. It's appalling how difficult it is to reach anyone.
I am leaving this review because I see that they respond to previous and current residents so I am hoping they will be quicker to respond and will not ignored me. TL;DR: Stay away from this company! They will raise the rent to ridiculous heights, provide poor customer service, and will not return your deposit within a the agreed upon timeframe. However, the maintenance worker is professional and fairly quick to respond.

They will raise the rent to ridiculous heights, provide poor customer service, and will not return your deposit within a the agreed upon timeframe. However, the maintenance worker is professional and fairly quick to respond.

If you're looking for an apartment to rent, make sure you avoid renting with this company. Not only will they raise your rent, but they'll find ways to add extra fees on top of the extra rent they're charging you. You can also expect to wait a week to hear back from them. They don't give a shit about you, they just want your money, every last penny they can scrape off of you. Updated: see how quick they reply to a bad Yelp review. It's the exact opposite of everything else.

Just more fantastic service from Sunrise Management. THIS PLACE! Stay as FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE! They're literally renting to anyone at this point. Cannot wait for lease to be up. This place is ran by clowns. Just check out their last response to my grievance. Can they not read? I asked they not reply as I found ANY response insulting. I was only insulted because any actual contact made directly to Sunrise Management was completely ignored. OH! But they were right on the poor Yelp review. CLOWNS!
