As a renter, I realize I am not for everyone because I have 4 dogs. I am always up front with people when I am looking for a rental. I did the same when I found an available property through Goetz Mandelay. I was told to just submit an application with payment and deal with it after the open house a few weeks away. During that time I contacted them repeatedly offering to double my security deposit and increase my rent.
If I got someone on the phone, it was always "wait until the open house". So I did. I was the first person there. When I mentioned my offer to the person who was running the open house she had no idea I had offered that. Long story short, didn't get the property. Which is fine. But I would have appreciated being told up front, not having to pay an application fee, and not being strung along. BTW, I found a great place. Good luck and avoid these people.
