Property managers? Property mis-managers! We moved into one of their rental properties in December. Heat didn't get fixed for over a month and our whole family froze! Their solution? Two space heaters for a 2,000 square foot house. After that every appliance went out during our year plus in the property: dishwasher, refrigerator (I won't even go into how much frozen and refrigerated food I had to throw away because Sara's suggestion was to find a neighbor's refrigerator to store food in, for a large family and during COVID?!?), then the washing machine AND dryer.

The toilet backed up, shower didn't drain, shutters and shades were broken. Upon move-in tenants are asked to complete a check list of everything dirty, missing or broken on the property. I noted everything on my extensive 'check-in' list and NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT ANY OF IT. Nothing was cleaned or repaired. THEN, and this is where it gets good, I was held to a much higher level of clean and was charged to clean one window, one closet and one toilet which supposedly took two people two hours to accomplish. Messages sent and left elicited late or no responses. Me? I would strongly recommend renting elsewhere.

These property managers kept my wife and I hanging for days and kept changing their story about what else was required. We ended up missing out other rental opportunities because of the delays here. Avoid dealing with this property management company if you can.

Have not been impressed with their communication. And when you do finally get through, the person on the other end is very curt and short. Very discouraging when you're trying to get information on a property or would like to see a property.

Unfortunately for prospective tenants and owners alike, this property management is completely unprofessional. They have their hands in several properties in the Sonoma county area and are very unhelpful. We had inquired about several rentals they had available and they were very difficult to get ahold of and would not reply to emails. My boyfriend decided to call to see if he could have better luck and unfortunately he was met with Zoe's short tone.

He asked about seeing properties, explained we live out of town but would be in town this Saturday and she cut him off immediately to say they "don't do weekends". He then asked if it would be possible to view the property virtually and again very rudely told "we don't do that here". She then said they ONLY have Monday available for showings for the rest of the month. I'm sorry but what kind of rental agency only has one day available for showing several properties for the next couple of weeks?

She then quickly said "good luck on your search" and hung up on him. We could have been great tenants but with the way we have been treated, good riddance. Barely given the time of day knowing nothing about us, unwilling to be flexible AT ALL. Good luck to all the property owners who work with them, I highly doubt you will be able to find any tenants with attitude like that.

Wow, after reading all the reviews my experience is just further validated. Extremely unprofessional, rude, and zero business ethics. I inquired for services a couple months ago and Kerry Davison tried to work around me and take advantage of my father who had recently had a massive stroke. My father is the property owner but I make all decisions regarding the property and she rushed him into signing a contract without giving me any update on the situation whatsoever--she went completely behind my back.

She then further belittled my father who once again, had a massive stroke only a couple months prior. That completely crossed the line for me. They care about getting your money and that's about it. Finding tenants isn't too difficult in 2021, I'd manage it yourself and save the money or find literally anyone else.

They gave us the impression we had the house we applied for that allows dogs. Then after a month of waiting we we're told someone with higher income got it. Then a few weeks later we saw the house back on the market but now without dogs being allowed. We contacted them and they didn't even offer to search for another house for us and acted annoyed when I asked them to. Update***They kept our deposit and our application fees as well!

I am writing anonymously of course. Moving out was not any better. For example, the house was not clean at all when we moved in. Dirty windows, cobwebs inside and out, bathrooms not cleaned. Kitchen greasy and grimey. Gross. Also one shower did not have a shower head so I had to run out and get my own. We made note of all this on our move-in checklist.

There was no refrigerator either (which I understand is not required by law, but Come on, really?) There was a drainage issue in the backyard which made it flood when it rained then it would become a mud bog and half the yard was unusable. The list goes on. So when we got our final invoice after moving out we were shocked that they had deducted hours and hours of cleaning costs.

They also tried to charge us for replacement of something that had not been provided when we moved in so we had to purchase one ourselves and we took it with us. Negotiations around some of those deductions was not particularly helpful. It still ended up with us losing a significant percentage of our deposit. I would not recommend dealing with this agency. No professional behavior or ethics. They seem to be on the property owner's side exclusively.

I rented from Mahoney Davison for 9 years and every experience with their staff was respectful and professional. As soon as I reported issues with my rental or surrounding property, Mahoney Davison contacted solid local companies to come out and help me immediately. In addition to how responsive MD was, I also had the lowest rent of anyone I knew in Petaluma!

The quality of the rental was very high and the building was regularly maintained. In the time I was there, the parking lot was repaved, the stairs and deck were rebuilt, the outdoor lighting was replaced, my building was stuccoed and painted, and the roof was replaced. In my apartment, the carpeting and bathroom vanity were new when I moved in and then over the years lots of small upgrades were made (like thermostat replacement). All this without much increase in rent over the years. I highly recommend them as property managers!

We had such an amazing experience with Sarah H. helping us find a new place. When I first viewed my now residence, she was incredibly friendly, efficient and transparent- she kept us in the loop about everything, including other potential renters. When we finally got the place we were crazy excited about (through Sarah's help negotiating with the owners), she kept us informed the whole time and went out of her way to make sure we felt "at home" once we decided to rent. I've only once needed a plumber and he showed up right away. I'd highly recommend Mahoney Davison and feel very lucky if you get Sarah!

The staff at Mahoney Davison were very responsive, friendly, and knowledgeable! They replied to our rental inquiries quickly, arranged for a viewing for the next day, and followed COVID public safety protocols professionally. The application process was also clear and easy. In contrast, other property management companies we reached out to were slow to respond (if they ever did), had unclear policies, and poorly maintained websites. The people really make the difference at Mahoney Davidson. I rented a house from them and everything went super smooth from move in to the move out. Korin was our main point of contact and she is communicative and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend them for anyone looking for a nice rental house or a property management team. Incredibly unprofessional and disingenuous. These slime balls led my wife on for weeks about a property, had us jump through hoops for a simple rental and then after all that, and even writing a cover letter, they didn't have the most basic courtesy to be up front and honest with us about the situation. My wife and I are both nurses and both from multi generational Petaluma families. Obviously this company does not hold any value in keeping local healthcare professionals here in their community. Super disrespectful.

I came to Mahoney Davison Co. To seek our Rental. After going & seeing a property with. A very unaware Female representing the Mahoney Co. Didn't and couldn't answer a single question about the property!?! Do they even go and look before showing it? And was accepted immediately! I was in seek of a west Petaluma home. After going through Multiple appointments and it's always at the end of the day because they are so Lazy!

And if they even have the motivation to call even one time in a 2 week span would be calling it impressive LOL want to have competition at the rental! Yes! Mahoney Davison Co. Will have many multiple family's at the same time come to view the home which is weird or ok if the Mahoney Co. Representative could even show up on time? No! 30minutes late twice!

And then to have zero answers on any questions about the property or why it smelled so bad and wasn't cleaned and had mouse & rat Pooh. Best of all on all 3 Properties I viewed alongside with Mahoney Davison Co. I said no 2 times to 2 properties which each time took 3 Weeks to even get the offer phone call, which is a F-king Joke. Anyways I was pre approved with them and a perfect house came onto their website please don't ever visit Mahoney Davison Co. Rentals.

Do you think they would call and suggest since I have a 810 credit score and my Fiance has a 798 and we have a 5 year old son that has a 20,000 dollar service dog, Mahoney wouldn't judge us because of a loving lab that is required for my son. But they Did and after 13 phone calls to the west Petaluma office they refused to tell us what was going on with a update or anything on the large property we had fallen in love with especially with the property being fenced IN which was a amazing!

It was perfect so yes a 1 Month and 3 days later we received a phone call saying we were accepted. You have got to be kidding me!?! These are rentals and it takes months and you have never gone to even see what's inside or have any info on the property itself or the house! Mahoney Davison is the worst rental Co. EVER! A bunch of Women and men that do nothing! Don't even try it will give you ANXIETY!

I am very impressed with Mahoney Davison Property Management. The staff is friendly and professional and their response time in following up with emails is impressive! I have called the after hours emergency number and they responded within 5 minutes- that alone is amazing customer service! I have worked with countless management companies over the years and they are top notch! I highly recommend their services.

Literally the best group of people you could ask for. They're incredibly friendly, professional, and prompt. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 we were forced to back out of a lease with Mahoney Davison. But once things blow over we will be working with them again. Highly recommended!

Super professional and helpful management team. This is our second house we've had with them and they've given us our privacy, but also answer calls when we need things in a timely manner. They have a good inventory of houses to choose from when it's time to move and don't gouge you when you leave.

We lost our Santa Rosa home in the 2017 fires and were desperately looking for a new place to live. We came across Mahoney Davison properties and so glad that we did. Jill at Mahoney found us a rental to reside in almost immediately. We lived there for 3 years until we found our forever home. All the girls at Mahoney were super helpful whenever we needed anything, from our water heater pilot light going out, a raccoon in the backyard or minor stove repair.

They always had someone there asap to fix it. Not to say that there was anything wrong with the house because it was beautiful, clean and well maintained when we moved in. But little things happen with all houses and the girls at Mahoney were there to take of us. I highly recommend there!

I rented a property through Mahoney a year and a half ago. Sarah could not have been nicer or more helpful. I was really excited to have found a property so close to downtown and it served its purpose for awhile. I started having quite a few problems a few months in, including a plumbing issue and a gas leak. It wasn't Mahoney's fault though, they were always very quick to get someone to address the issues and I do believe this is an issue with many of the old historic homes that have been broken up into multiple units.

I am writing this review with 4 stars though to praise the employees they have hired. Laura and Korin were so wonderful to work with and always got back to me incredibly quickly. My security deposit was quickly returned in full. I would not hesitate to recommend Mahoney to others but do be prepared for potential issues in the older homes.

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! If I could give negative stars I would. Giving this sham of a company one star seems like a highlight for them. Little bit of a background. I've been renting here in Sonoma County since 2009 and have never run into a property management company as terrible as this one. We rented from Mahoney Davison for almost 4 years.

The property that we rented was extremely outdated but we lived in peace there never created an issue unless there was something wrong with the plumbing or a mold issue etc. By the way we passed all of our yearly inspections without hearing anything about any issues. Flash forward, we were given our 60 day notice to move out by September 2019 because the owner was going to REMODEL the house.

This was fine as we understand it's normal to remodel a weathered house. Some of our main issues are that when we moved out Mahoney has sent us a letter typed up asking if we would like a walk through. Of course we wanted a walk through so we could correct anything that was wrong with the property, so I returned the paper signed the next day.

This walk through never occurred. Another major red flag was that when we left the home they asked for a forwarding address to send our deposit information. I sent the new address before we moved and then heard crickets until I finally emailed them after the legal 21 days asking to return our deposit. Finally we heard back from this crappy company.

They said that we actually owed money on our deposit and had mailed our deposit information to the previous house that we had moved out of 30 days before. Umm what? Why would they mail something to a house you no longer live at, after you provided a new forwarding address? By now you must be as confused as we were. But don't worry, it gets better.

They said we actually owed more money for the deposit because the home needed to be repainted. By the way it is customary to repaint homes after 3 years either way. They decided to charge us for that which was the final straw for us. I ended up going back and forth with them via email and they acknowledged how they messed up every step of the way but still requested money.

To resolve this I ended up sending them a certified letter with the help of a lawyer and they finally sent back a portion of my deposit, which goes to prove my point even more. I should have taken them to court but karma will catch up this sham of a business. To sum things up, never rent from this company and never have them look over your property.

They will probably try to respond to this review, but let's be honest Mahoney Davison, don't waste your time I have the emails that will prove my points so just accept that you guys are terrible and should be shut down.

I am extremely disappointed with this company. I had an appointment on November 5that 1PM to view a property for rent. I received a phone call from Amy asking if we could move the appointment to a later time because it would run into her lunch. I get it, people need to eat so I was willing to reschedule it. I viewed the property and it wasn't exactly what I was looking for so Amy advised me to go onto their website and look at a few properties that may better fit my needs.

I called her back the same day to schedule an appointment, she told me she was available to show me the property November 6th at 10am. (Today) The morning of November 6th rolls around and I received a phone call at 8:30 informing me that they will not be able to show me the property at 10AM and that I would need to reschedule for the next day. At this point it's been two days in a row where they have canceled a set appointment with me.

I travel for work I'm only home a couple days out of the week so I rely on a schedule, which they were unable to keep twice! My fiance is extremely busy at the moment helping the victims of the Kincaid fire that are suffering from smoke damage so he also has a tight schedule! It makes me wonder how long the people that are using this company are sitting on an unrented house because their agents are unable to maintain a simple appointment!

I had a terrible experience with Mahoney Davison which began to border on what felt like harassment of me and my senior disabled mother. My experience with Kerry, in particular, has led me to write this review. I found Kerry to be rude, unprofessional, unkind, and misleading to the point of dishonesty, for example, claiming she hadn't received emails which I then had to forward to her to show she'd received them. Mahoney Davison tried to bully funds from me to make repairs to the property which existed when I moved in. Fortunately, I remembered that their website marketing photos showed the condition, which I pointed out to Kerry, and then suddenly the story changed to the owners made the mistake and not Mahoney Davison. Mahoney Davison and the owners of the property I lived in would not remove a wall-mounted 50-inch TV from the living room wall when I told them it didn't work.

It was used as a "plus" to the property I rented. It worked for two months off and on. When I notified Mahoney Davison that it didn't work and I would like it removed, Amy Jackson refused and said, "I don't see what the problem is." We never paid our rent late. We left the property in better shape than we received it in, and yet we were harassed and, frankly, bullied.

I would never lease a property managed by Mahoney Davison again, and I would strongly encourage anyone who cares about the treatment of their tenants and the ethics in their business relations to not use the services of Mahoney Davison Property Management.

This company has been managing the property I rent for 4 years now and I have nothing but good things to say. Jill Glover is the manager responsible for the particular home I rent and has been extremely diligent in handling my requests or concerns! I would recommend anybody looking for housing in the area to give the Mahoney properties a look.

I hate to say we had a terrible experience with the Mahoney Davison company, specifically with the owner, Kerry. And, if you are a owner/landlord and actually care about your property, I would strongly advise against using their property management company. As owners of a house in the area, we sought a property management for our house that we were already leasing to tenants.

At first I liked Kerry's forthright and stern approach when talking to her but, once we signed on to use their company, she became so awful to us. The way she would communicate with us (email and phone) was flat out rude. Interestingly enough, the person who I had the most communication with was young Sarah. She was the opposite of Kerry: kind, friendly and tried to be as helpful as possible.

Perhaps she should run the company? My biggest complaint with Kerry? Over the holidays, our tenant has complained that our nice/new bamboo floor was peaking/buckling. An appropriate response would be to send a plumber to check for leaks, get quotes on repair, get the owners aware and involved. No. Kerry actually was hardly aware of us having MAJOR floor problems until the tenants moved out.

Then she was full of ideas (see photo of screen shot). The "floor guy" they sent out didn't know what was causing the peaking (guessed install) and, after that, he stopped working for Mahoney. They never bothered to follow up with anyone else or a plumber. Bottom line, we paid them a lot of money every month to watch out for our property and they absolutely did not do that. I'm not saying our floor problem was directly Kerry's or the company's fault but she sure didn't care what was going on over in our house.

We were over 400 miles away and we paid them to watch over our house and we strongly feel that was not on Kerry's agenda. Oh, and walk through and reviewing the property upon the tenant's vacating? Forget it, not Kerry's problem! Kerry, after a year, I see that you just commented on my review. I'm sure my review of your business, in a public forum, was disheartening as YELP was not a thing in the 80s, 90s, etc. and you could run your business without such bad publicity.

As all my reviews are, this review was honest and based on MY experience. You knew what you were getting into and gladly accepted a generous portion of rent every month to manage our property. Our tenants continued to contact us and even complained about you to us. Your communication with us was rude and abrupt. You wouldn't even conduct a walk through at the end after all the money you took from us.

The floor debacle (lack of attention devoted to it) was the last straw for us. I hope that you turned our experience with you into an invaluable learning experience. Good luck.

Here is the honest truth. Upon first interaction, Mahoney Davison and I got off on the wrong foot when we started a year ago. They are incredibly picky about who they rent to and that includes previous bankruptcies. Be prepared to explain your why's and when's. After a year of renting through them, working closely with Eileen and Kerry, we turned our relationship around and what I found was a company that really does a great job both managing their rentals and taking care of their property owners.

Our house had been 'flipped' just before we moved in and WOW was there all kinds of things wrong. Eileen was prompt in having maintenance taken care of and the subcontractors were professional and quick. In closing, these are great people to rent from especially if you are a picky tenant like myself.
