Avellan Springs Apartments

We have been here for about a month now and it has absolutely been the best place we have moved to since coming to NC. This was our 1st choice and meeting the staff made us feel so welcomed. The layout of the apartment they showed us had us hooked. Being here a month we feel a sense of safety. With a baby on the way this was our biggest concern. Everyone from the office staff to maintenance are so nice. Maintenance is absolutely great and get to work orders within 24 hours. If you are looking for a temporary place to call home this is definitely it.

Edit #2: The internet is out again. This is the 4th one since January. Edit: My building has now been without water for over 3 hours for a supposed 30 minute fix with no update from the office. Apartments are gorgeous and maintenance is prompt, warranting the second star. However, this is the 3rd internet outage since January which makes it hard for students and people working from home. Additionally, if you move here pray that your neighbors don't throw incessant parties like mine do.

Hearing bass lines for hours (even on weeknights) is enough to give anyone a headache. Also, if you want to meet with the property manager about anything, do not expect Amanda to show up.

Have been a resident of Avellan for 3 yrs. This has been one of the most positive experiences to date. The grounds are kept impeccable, the maintenance staff are extremely knowledgeable of all issues as it relates to the property. The office staff has been extremely helpful, and a pleasure to work with. Office management ( Amanda) is also eager to assist and proactive with problem solving. I look forward with spending future years here at Avellan Springs.

I'm in love with my apartment! The community is beautiful and the staff are all so helpful and welcoming! I can't wait for pool to open!

I wish i could live here forever. no, seriously. i have never loved an apartment complex so much because i know one day i'll have to leave and it's giving me attachment issues just thinking about it. perfect location, beautiful interiors (the hallway makes it feel more like a home than an apartment), peacefully quiet, maintenance is always ready to assist, i literally couldn't ask for more. the people in the office are the sweetest and always available to help me whenever i have an inconvenience. sure the internet goes out here and there, but the pros outweigh the cons in my humble opinion. i don't need much but this place has EVERYTHING. so glad i found this location by accident a few years ago. they take very good care of me!

Aside from the internet constantly and I do mean constantly going down, I have had nothing but a pretty good experience. The internet is sub-par at best (which the staff and facilities has nothing to do with) I am literally thinking about posting a review everytime it goes down just so people have an accurate amount (today being a down time). The issue is that when it's down, their phone lines to the office are down as well.

You are stuck with their provider unless you can get starlink from Elon musk. The thing is, if you are unable to provide a stable connection, let us contact our own company. I'm sure Google fiber and a slew of other providers can get service to this place with better speeds for a lower price. Right now, we pay $75 for 100mb down and about 20mb up on the high tier package. Att is offering 940mb down and 940mb up for $65.

If you work from home or have children, this is not the place for you. If the internet issues are resolved for longer than two months, I'll edit my review. I don't want anymore canned answers about it being the fiber company switch companies!

Beautiful complex with awesome upkeep of the surrounding grounds! Very welcoming and comfortable appearance. Would've definitely moved in had we not decided to purchase a home instead!

Nice peaceful surroundings here and a professional, friendly group of staff. The whole property is always well kept. Love the spacious floor plan, walk in closets, and garden tub in the master!

I was recently looking for an apartment in the area and Avellan Springs immediately began to win me over with their stellar customer service. The staff is amazingly warm and welcoming. Matthew was the best! He answered all of my questions and concerns. Would highly recommend.

My husband, Eli, never complained once about anything. This was a complete shock because Eli always complains about something no matter where we are. He actually complemented the shrubs! We didn't use the pool because of the sun; however, it was beautiful clear and inviting. Maybe next time if it's cloudy we will use the immaculate pool.

In November, management requested that I write a good review. I was very relunctant at first because there were a few unresolved issues pending. After expressing my concerns to management several times, nothing transpired. I decided to meet with the new manager in November. She respectfully told me that she would look into my concerns, and call me back on November 15, 2021.

Today is December 5th, and I have not received a phone call nor did I get email. However, I did receive a rent statement loaded with excessive fees. This was totally disrespectful, and very unprofessional! It appears as though she was being spiteful. Why? I don't know. This type of unprofessional behavior makes a beautiful place, not so beautiful. I am very disappointed, and that was ugly!

Amanda Smith was very friendly, helpful, and patient. She made sure that she kept me in the loop when my application had technical issues. She kept daily communication and called me after a week when I moved in to make sure I was doing well and settled in to my place. Not only are the staff nice, but maintenance is prompt and the neighborhood is quiet and convenient to a lot of shopping centers, food, and other towns.

We had a 15 month lease and the only issue we ever had was the wifi which says a lot for an apartment complex. They made move out insanely easy and Jordan was so personable through out all of the nonsense we were dealing with. Definitely recommend especially with how close it is to Walmart, restaurants and the highway!

Such a beautiful property! I would absolutely LOVE to live here!

Greg and I have made Avellan Springs our home. We love it here and enjoy that it's a quiet community with well kept apartments and lovely landscaping. The maintenance staff is always ready to assist when there's a need for a repair and are always friendly, respectful and prompt. We highly recommend this property!

*Note: I don't currently live in this complex but am a tentative resident* Today I had a virtual tour with Ashley Wright. I didn't quite know what to expect as I hadn't done a virtual tour before; however my experience was excellent! Ashley was incredibly informative and gave me the full experience, from touring the outside of the building all the way through the balcony view. Ashley thoroughly answered all of my questions and anticipated any questions I could have had.

She was friendly, engaging, and energetic which was a breath of fresh air compared to other leasing agents I have interacted with in the Raleigh-Durham area. I can tell Ashley enjoys what she does and genuinely cares to take care of their residents. As a tentative resident, I look forward to working with Ashley in the future!

Love the layout and location of these apartments. But I have been dealing with my air/heat breaking since 2 months after I've been here and it will be 2 years in Sept. (I will not not be renewing my lease.) I don't think they want to spend the money getting whatever is really wrong with the ac/heat system so they do quick fixes. My refrigerator so also so loud to the point I can't even enjoy sitting in my living room. I was So disappointed in this. Emailed about the issue several times and no response.

Before I begin, let me give you the TL;DR.

--You SHOULD NOT, under any circumstances, consider living here! --

Pros

- You will most likely get an apartment that no one has ever lived in before.

Cons

- You may not get the apartment you selected. Our selected apartment was switched on us one day prior to move in. We had to take it because we could find no other place to live in a days notice.

- You will move into a construction site.

You will hear loud construction noises at all hours of the day, you will come home to find debris in the road and in the parking lots and nothing on the property is completely finished. Our apartment was a MESS when we moved int. We found nearly 2 lbs of nails, screws, fasteners and glass all over our stairs, in our apartment and on our balcony. There was paint on everything when we moved in.

The painters didn't tape off or cover anything so the new stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, etc. All had paint flecks on them. Even all the light switches and the power receptacles had to have paint scraped off. We had to have our kitchen floor replaced prior to moving in it was damaged so badly. We spent the first weekend cleaning our new apartment.

- Your apartment WILL BE LOUD!

The construction is poorly done. You will absolutely hear, plain as if they were in your room, your neighbors. You will here them talking, walking around, using the bathroom, EVERYTHING!

- You may move in and find the services you agreed to pay for are not available. We agreed and paid to have the internet and a washer and dryer available. Neither was available when we moved in and we were forced to take our laundry to cleaners for the first week.

The amount of work it took us to get the internet hooked up and a washer and dryer installed was amazing! It took over a week and another month before they gave us our money back for the days the services that were not available.

- Your internet connection will be HORRIBLE. You are stuck going with the services they provide. It will be to expensive for what you get, it will be insecure, it will be managed poorly, and you will most likely not get support for days after you call for help.

They will mostly likely never help you on the weekends either. You get a router, they give you a wireless network name that is your apartment number and a wifi password that you can't change. Do not get comfortable using the wireless for banking because anyone could have your network password. You can't configure the router to use a different channel or anything else technical.

Expect strange issues with Netflix, things like Google complaining and requiring you to enter captchas all the time because they see strange behavior on your network and lots of other headaches!

- You will find a property were people are comfortable smoking, partying and raising hell because there is nothing to stop them. We just enjoyed listening to our neighbors party for 5 hours last Thursday and got to see them litter the grounds with dozens of cigarettes and take random bathroom breaks all over the grass.

Today one of the leasing agents spent a good long time in conversation with 2 contractors who were all smoking all the while and going in and out of the unfinished club house. I'm making a note of this because it's supposed to be a non-smoking property and not even the leasing agents care to enforce this.

- You will most likely have a bug problem.

We had bug problems on day one. We had beetles and other weird bugs all throughout our apartment and we were simply told they were working on it. It's gotten a little better over the last month but not by much. They simply, and admittedly, did not have pest control on contract. Thats right, no pest control prior to September 2015.

- You will find a lack of maintenance support.

When we moved in we noted tons of issues (a lack of caulk anywhere in the apartment, a broken bath tub, a huge gap under our front door because it was hung incorrectly, etc.) and were told they didn't have any maintenance staff.

- I've ran out of space but I could go on. Run away from avellan!
