RENTEX, a full service property management company, was originally established in 1984 to address the need for a professional, responsible management company to assist the numerous absentee landlords and relocating families who periodically move in and out of the Bath/Brunswick area. Property owners, who cannot stay in Maine, or even those that can, will feel assured that their homes or cottages will be well cared for.
Services
Rentex is a full service property management company that was established by Michael Baribeau and his wife, Dianna Baribeau in the mid 1980's. Mike managed a few buildings early in his real estate career, working in the family business The Baribeau Agency, which was established by his grandfather in 1927.
If client desires to rent property, Rentex has the client fill out an application. This application is processed through a private credit clearing company that checks the credit history, list all previous known addresses of clients, checks to see if clients have any civil judgment against them and does a debt to income ratio.
All applications must be accompanied by the required, $35.00 application fee in order to be processed. This fee is not applied to the first months rent, nor is it refundable. Please do provide us with your payment information via PayPal. We run a complete background check on prospective tenants. This includes but is not limited to a credit check, previous landlord references, and employment verification.
Situated on the coast of Maine, the southern Mid-Coast area is just 2 hours from Boston, and conveniently located between the state's major population centers. These picturesque communities create a special blend of small town coastal living with upscale shopping, health care and cultural attributes.

Wish I could give 0 stars. Some of the most unpleasant, unprofessional renting experiences I've ever had. They have made it clear that they are unwilling to fix the basic things in the apartment because I have been without a bathroom light/door for over 7 months. When I brought it up to two separate representatives over the course of several months I was yelled at, insulted and dismissed completely.
My apartment was inspected two different times during my time living there to investigate a report of "bad odors", both times I was told everything was totally fine and that Nate could not smell anything. However when I was touching base regarding security deposits and leaving the apartment this issue cited again, and Diana yelled at me over the phone as if this issue had not already been cleared up. Personally I wish they could do business without getting so emotional and rude when someone disagrees with them, it's incredibly unprofessional and frankly childish.

This company is not reliable. I dealt with Mark Racco, to list my house on rent. I told him to do 3 listings, one for the full house, second for basement and third for the main floor and second floor. He got the papers signed and said he will do that. But hie did only one listing without my approval and then he started showing the properties, but I kept on inissting for the listing and he ignored me.
After a weeks time, he threatened that I can not withdraw his services till September 30. I kept silent, because I had a lot of pressure of work, moving and I did not want to loose my three months and fight and complain to the Real Estatwete Board. He never came with the clients but he told me to take care of the clients, if they come, because he has very small children, but the other realtors who wanted to show, they came with their clients.
He did not check the antecedents of any of the applicants and said it is not his job. He rather pushed me to rent to one of his community person, whose yearly income was so low that she would not be be getting the take home as the rent amount. I had never done any thing in my life. He did not guide at all. When I discussed with my friends and the person, who introduced me, they advised me to keep silence and do the verification myself, because it is my property, and on the date of closing and handing over the keys, he was reluctant to come and said hand over the keys to my office, whereas the tenant realtor came every time with the client.
If for just listing you have to pay one month rent to the agent, post it on kijiji but never go to realtors like Mark Racco, who does not know what customer service is. Even the broker who he works for Jason, did not help at all and said in the email that they provide the highest service. Beware of these kind of crooked agents. I will give 0 star to rentex realty

I wish I could not push a star! They are not kind! They are not working with you! There are times they may know your number so do not answer! They changed our rent randomly! They lost the best woman that worked there! While the other one is horrible to speak to! I wish she was fired! They have some places that look good at first! Then you move in and all the things that are wrong start to finally come out! I wish I never signed a lease from them! Can't wait to move!

I rented a small apartment from Rentex for nearly a year and simply could not wait to be done with the experience. Upon entering the apartment it was relatively clean but the carpets had pet hair in them, there were grease stains on the ceiling above the stove, and there were food remnants in the freezer. All fixtures and appliances were fully functional when I began living there, but the stove stopped working after a few months.
It took the property management over a month to get it fixed properly and I was still charged the full rate for rent. The other Rentex tenants in my building were completely unruly and had loud parties several days a week that lasted until the sun came up the following day. Domestic disputes were a very common occurrence amongst the other renters and I often came home to find police officers in the driveway.
After complaining about the living conditions to the property management, I was shrugged off and told that they have NEVER heard of any problems like that at their properties. It was very clear that they just did not care. Although I was an extremely reliable tenant and left the apartment nearly spotless upon ending my lease, I was treated horribly on my way out.
The property management tried to withhold my deposit for some (documented) pre-existing damage to the apartment and a tiny stain from a drop of hot sauce inside the refrigerator door. After a 30-day dispute I was rightfully given my deposit back. These are bad people. I would strongly discourage anyone from doing business with them!

These two women were horrible to work with. Hardly organized and simply out to pinch pennies and do the least amount of work possible. They never have the customer in mind, only their work load. And this is coming from someone who paid rent every month 5 days early. I will say, I believe it is only Diana that is the tough one to work with. Carry is only trying to do what she is told and be a buffer between the witch and the customer.
The only reason this entity exists, is so Diana Baribeau (one of the ladies) can have something to do, so she can stay out of her husbands hair while he trys to do his job (Baribeau Real Estate and Appraisals). The relationship started with me having to pay an application fee before I was even able to look at any of their properties. Great way to start a relationship.
